CDXC Members Derek G3KHZ, Gordon G3USR, David M0VTG and others will be active from three Papua New Guinea island groups successively from the middle of next week until Tuesday 10th November.

You can see full details on the DXpedition web site at which identifies full details including dates by island, callsigns and QSL routes.

P29 is around 105 in the world most wanted and is in the low 90s in CDXC's clublog. The IOTA islands are all less than 10% claimed and one of these groups, Woodlark has only been activated once before.

Activity will be balanced between CW and SSB with some RTTY also planned. Bands will be 160 to 15 metres with the possibility of 12 and 10 (these latter probably just on SSB) should conditions allow. We should have up to 4 concurrent stations.

Our objectives include giving P29 as a new one to as many stations as possible and the 3 IOTAs to those who need them. We will not knowingly be in the 'band slot' game.

We look forward to working as many CDXC members as possible. Hope to see you in the pile up.

73 and good DX Gordon, G3USR On behalf of the P29 team.

Phil, G3SWH and Jim, G3RTE will be active from Christmas Island (VK9X) between 20th and 27th February 2010. Christmas Island counts as OC-002 for IOTA purposes. The 2008 "Most Wanted" survey by the DX Magazine shows Christmas Island at #66 worldwide for DXCC purposes. We will both use the single callsign of VK9X/G6AY. Our activity will be on CW only on all bands 80-10 meters. There will be no 160 metre activity.

Propagation permitting, we plan to have two stations on the air for as many hours every day as is possible. Our main objective is to work as many European, North American and ROTW stations on as many bands as possible. QSL via G3SWH, either direct with SAE and adequate return postage (recommended), via Phil's web site for a bureau reply or via the bureau. There is more information at VK9X/G6AY

ZK2BJ Don Beattie reports on the CDXC reflector today after his holiday expedition to Niue Island. Don goes on to say:

"I'm sorry that the ZK2BJ signal was so weak in Europe. I was prepared for some screening in the European direction, but in the event it was just too much. European signals were weak (at best) with continuous flutter, no doubt because of the enforced high angle from my antenna. I was also beset by switch mode psu interference from somewhere, which wandered across the bands quite regularly, to add to the entertainment. Congratulations to those who did make it into the log on 40,30 and 20 from the UK. Hopefully Koji, ZK2NX helped out from his better location (and 1Kw linear !).

But Niue was always going to be a holiday firstly and radio secondly. And what a great place for a holiday. We were very sad to leave, having been totally enchanted by this little island.

LoTW upload will be as soon as we are home (and have negotiated adding the two new calls to the LoTW system)  For those who need QSL's it will be a couple of weeks before I send off the design to the printers. We are now in ZL and VK until 8th October.

Hope to see everyone at Wyboston." ZK2BJ / G3BJ Don

CDXC member Steve 9M6DXX has updated us on forthcoming activity from East Malaysia over the next two months.

    1) Steve, 9M6DXX, will operate (SSB only) as 9M8Z from Sarawak, East Malaysia (IOTA OC-088), from 22 to 26 October, including a single-operator all-band high-power unassisted entry in the CQWW DX phone contest. QSL via M0URX direct, via the bureau, LoTW, or request direct or bureau cards on-line.

    2) Steve, 9M6DXX, and fellow CDXC member John, 9M6XRO, will operate from Pulau Labuan (IOTA OC-133) from 6 to 8 November (and possibly for one or two hours from 0000UTC on 9 November) as follows: 9M6DXX/P 10m - 80m on SSB only; 9M6XRO/P 10m - 160m on CW and RTTY. Stations will be using linear amplifiers to a multi-band vertical and a 160m inverted-L, both mounted very close to the ocean. We hope it will be possible to operate on 160m CW at the same time as SSB on the other bands. QSL both 9M6DXX/P and 9M6XRO/P via M0URX, either direct, via the bureau or LoTW. Click here for more details.
