The RSGB convention has now become one of the most popular and well-attended events of the year. Those who have attended the event over the years will recall that the move to Wyboston was made to accommodate the event's increased attendance. However, we have now outgrown this venue too. As a result RSGB have decided to move the 2010 RSGB Convention to Horwood House near Milton Keynes.

Horwood House provides the RSGB Convention with new purpose-built meeting rooms, comfortable lounges and bars, delightful country surroundings and 182 en-suite bedrooms. All bedrooms are within the complex and have easy access to the lecture rooms that we will be using. Within a short distance of Bletchley and Milton Keynes stations and the M1 motorway, this new venue is easy to access.

The Convention programme will be announced soon and it planned to further expand the popular lectures and increase the activities for the visitors. For details see www.rsgb.org/rsgbconvention/

The Penallt Trophy, given in memory of Allan Phillips, GW0BIC, is awarded to the CDXC member who works the most DXCC entities on the 1.8, 3.5 and 7MHz bands during the month of March each year (January prior to 2005). Each DXCC entity is counted once only, regardless of how many bands or how many modes that entity is worked on. No QSL cards are required, but in the event of a dispute the CDXC committee may request a photocopy or print-out of applicants’ logs. There is no minimum number of entities worked in order to qualify.

All CDXC members are encouraged to enter the competition by submitting a list of all the DXCC entities they have worked on the three ‘low bands’ during the month of March. Please list each DXCC entity only once and send your entry to Jim Steel, M0ZAK.

From 2008 onwards it is also possible to enter the LF Challenge electronically, using ClubLog. This requires you to upload your station log (much like Logbook of the World). For further details, contact Michael G7VJR.

The Penallt Trophy and the Tindle Cup awarded to the runner-up, are very attractive silver cups and well worth winning. Plaques are awarded to the third placed station and to the highest scorer on each band.
