Secretary: Chris Duckling, G3SVL

Started SWL-ing on the broadcast bands around the age of 13 and, as legend has it, stumbled across an amateur signal soon after. I passed my morse and RAE at the age of 15 and with the exception of the usual family, career and housing ladder interrupts, have been active on all HF bands and up to 4m ever since. I can usually be found contesting and DXing on the low bands with CW as my primary mode. In 2007 I was part of the FSDXA DX-pedition to 3B7C, St Brandon. Professionally I am a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IET and work as a consultant with directorships of a number of small companies. In 2003 I completed a late-career PhD which, if I use my academic title coupled with my surname, makes me sound like a Walt Disney character!

Member: Gordon Rolland, G3USR

Gordon is originally from Glasgow and was first licensed under the tutelege of G3GGO as G(M)8AKB while still at school in Croydon, Surrey in the mid 1960s. At that time Gordon enjoyed a mix of HF and VHF activities - his school heroes included Iris and Lloyd Colvin. Family commitments then took priority for many years until he re-discovered Amateur Radio early this century. Since becoming active again, utilising a modest set up, Gordon has become an ardent IOTA enthusiast and has developed a penchant for DX operating both chasing and activating. He has been heard as VP2MSR. In September 2007, he participated in the 3B7C expedition. In addition, Gordon has an emerging interest - writing radio DXpedition and operating articles which you may see in the Digest from time to time. He is a member of RSGB, GMDX, UKSMG, Melton Mowbray ARC and the Grantham Radio Club. Gordon is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has a track record with several UK blue chip corporations in Customer Service, Accounting and IT functions. He is now retired and while not playing radio, he is involved with Rutland Lions Club, enjoys numismatics, travelling and keeping house for his partner, Dawn.

Member: Jim Steel, M0ZAK

Radio Communication first held me in its grasp in the Summer of 1977 when a friend introduced me to a Jaws Mark 2 / magmount combination, I was hooked and have been held ever since. Licensed status arrived in 1998 when I passed the novice RAE, gaining the call 2E1GRM. Not wanting to stop there, I worked through the licensing structure to the call I hold today. My interests within the hobby are directed towards the digital modes and I am currently working on RTTY DXCC when time allows. I hold a position within FISTS as the qsl manager for the G*4 series of callsigns and within CDXC as qsl manager for M0C and derived calls, an aspect of the hobby I enjoy tremendously. I'm also part of the British Historic Racing committee where I'm responsible for scoring, maintaining and publishing (on the BHR website) the various championships.
